Seriously, repost if you'd like information for the other possibilities. If this icon is not lighted when the SES light is on the miss could be due to funky PCV valve - spark plugs - ignition module - fuel injector - leaky back-fire valve - stop me!!! a significant symptom of failing TAC components is engine stays in reduced power mode. There was at least one service bulletin to replace TAC parts and repair wiring for the 3.0 - its too large to attach but I can email if you private message an address.īTW. The throttle position sensors can't be changed separately as they're embedded in the throttle body assembly. The mechanical linkage which once connected the gas pedal to throttle body has been replaced by sensors, wires and computers. Please read attached file describing the Vue Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) system. Installation Spotlight presents: Honda 3.5 Liter Fuel Injector ReplacementThis video demonstrates replacing the Fuel Injector for a 3.5 Liter application.Lev. he said that the sensor was the problem but you cant just buy the sensor ive found this out after reserching ,now im wondering could this be a ground problem/wire connection issue/vaccum throttle body pcv bulletin issue ,I need some input before I spend hundreds tracking down the problem and I dint mind getting my hands dirty looking ,Can any one help 2003 Saturn vue 3.0 6cylinder fwd automatic. I took photos of the install and will post them tonight.Im new and glad to be here and learning a lot as well, my wifes vue started its problem with a oil light coming on every once in awhile then the engine service light would also come on ,the oil level was fine ,later it started cutting of at idle and surging at low rpm ,it still runs and we had it checked out by a friend who is a mechanic with a code reader and he said that we needed a throttle body /throttle positioning sensor which cost around 700. ( Stick a screwdriver between the intake and the coil pack. That's all the further the intake has to come off.) No need to remove the throttle body or disconnect the fuel line. I did it your way and it really does save time. If you remove the cap you will loose alot of coolant.(almost all of it) If you leave the cap on you will only loose about 1-2 quarts of coolant. This will keep air from entering the system and keeps pressure on the system. NOTE: If the thermostat housing won't "twist" out from between the heads more than likely it is getting stuck from the tube pushing on it.Pull out on the tube while pulling the housing out.Īlso replace the housing when replacing the thermostat.50% of the time the thermostat is stuck open and the other is because the thermostat isn't completely sealing against the housing.ĪLSO: Leave the coolant overfill cap ON the whole time. There is a tube going to the front of the engine by the dipstick.First remove the E12 bolt holding the housing into the thermostat. After you have that bolt removed turn the housing and remove the tube from the thermostat housing.Look at the new thermostat housing and you will see what I'm talking about.ĥ.)Once you have the tube removed from the thermostat remove 1 thermostat bolt all the way and only loosen the other one a little.unseal the thermostat from the engine block by gently prying with a flathead on the thermostat housing. This allows the coolant to run onto the ground.Remove both thermostat bolts completely and put the new thermostat housing and thermostat in place.Install the thermostat bolts first then put the housing back onto the thermostat. Unplug the solenoid so it doesn't break. Now that you have the solenoid unplugged push up on the intake so that there is about 10-12" between the front of the intake and your front coil pack.Stick a screwdriver between the intake and the coil pack. That's all the further the intake has to come off.Ĥ.) Grab your 3/8" ratchet, extentions and E10 or E12 socket.Remove the spacer plate with the ratchet, extentions and socket. You may have to use the 3" extention on some of the bolts and the 6" on others. The 6" will make it easier, but clearance issues only let you use the 3".After the spacer plates are loose lift the spacer plate out.Ĥ.) Now you have direct access to the thermostat.do not remove the two thermostat bolts yet. You will see a solenoid with a plug on it. Lift up on the intake and look on the right side. You can see it by looking under the intake.ģ.)The intake should be loose. Then remove the plastic part in the middle of the intake revealing 5 holes on top of the intake.Ģ.) Use your 1/4" T30 with extention and unscrew the 5 bolts in the holes on top of the intake. The 5 bolts can stay in the intake as long as you have them all loose. You will have 1 more T30 bolt to remove. Long flathead screwdriver or other 10"-12" barġ/4" tools= T30 socket, 6" or longer extention and ratchetģ/8" tools= Ratchet or air ratchet, 3" and 6" extention, and E10 or E12 socketġ.) remove plastic air intake. This is true if you don't know the shortcuts.Ĭan be done in about 45 minutes with air tools. Here's exactly how to do it. It has been said it takes 4 hours to replace a thermostat on the vue.
